NEW YORK & RESTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The City University of New York (CUNY) and Revature, a leading technology talent development company, today announced Revature at CUNY, a strategic partnership to provide free industry-aligned coding bootcamps for CUNY graduates.
The 12-week programs, exclusively for CUNY graduates, provide the opportunity to learn the latest enterprise-level, next-generation and niche technology skills at no cost. Students who complete the free training are then employed by Revature and will receive industry certification and continuing education. The program is expected to train and hire more than 2,000 CUNY graduates over the next five years.
U.S. youth unemployment currently stands at 10.2%, double the national average of 4.9% (July 2016). Employers identify the lack of skills as the main culprit (45%).
To close this gap, education providers are joining forces with corporates to ensure students come to market job-ready.
